9th CUTSE International Conference from 3 to 4 December 2014

Miri – 18 November 2014 – Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) will host its ninth annual Curtin University Technology, Science and Engineering (CUTSE) International Conference at its campus from 3 to 4 December 2014.

The conference, themed ‘Discovering, Innovating and Engineering’, will provide researchers, engineers, scientists, academics, industry professionals and students the opportunity to exchange ideas, knowledge and information on recent innovations and practices in engineering and the sciences.

It is being jointly organised by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Curtin Sarawak’s School of Engineering and Science and the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), Miri Branch and supported by IOPscience and the Miri City Council.

The first day of the conference will feature keynote speakers Professor Tony Lucey, Head of School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Curtin University, Australia; and Professor Robert Martinuzzi, Research Fellow of Pratt & Whitney Canada and Professor of Fluid Mechanics, Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, University of Calgary, Canada.

The second day will feature a further three keynote speakers, namely Professor Chandrasekar Srinivasakannan of The Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi; Ir Dr Edwin Jong, General Manager of Jurutera Perunding Akal Malaysia; and Dr Calvin Chok, Director of Technology of Platinum Group Malaysia.

The conference programme will include parallel sessions for papers related to environment, energy and resources; structures, materials and manufacturing; systems and control; mechatronics and ICT; and engineering science fundamentals.

In addition, it will allow student participants to present their research projects and gain valuable feedback from industry professionals.

The refereed conference proceedings will be published prior to the conference and distributed to all registered participants at the conference.

Selected papers will be published in the IOP Conference Series: Material Science and Engineering. They will be selected during the review process and conference presentation stage. The final decision will be made based on peer review reports by the guest editors and the Editor-in-Chief.
