APU ARE CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN, For the FOURTH YEAR running!

We are delighted to inform you that APU has WON the Asia Pacific ICT Awards MSC-APICTA 2013 as Champions in the “Best of Tertiary Student Project – Software” category, for the project “Innovative & Eco-Friendly Cooling Fan – A Substitute for Air Conditioners”. The awards were presented by YBhg Datuk Che Azemi Haron, Deputy Security General II, Minister of Communication and Multimedia at the awards Ceremony at Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur.

What is “Innovative & Eco-Friendly Cooling Fan – A Substitute for Air Conditioners”
It is a modified version of a ceiling fan that has the potential to reduce the temperature (up to 10°C) of its surrounding during the process of circulation. The blades are wrapped with (Non-woven Cotton and Polyester net) that can act as a substitute for the air conditioners. It is able to reduce the consumption of electricity by minimizing the usage of Air Conditioners in residential areas. Therefore, it has a capability to reduce the cost of electricity by 75% per month (Actual Calculated Cost Based On Current Tariff).Able to prevent any kind of wall damage caused during the installation process, in contrary to the installation of Air Conditioners.

The Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA) is an international Awards Programme initiated by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) to provide a platform for innovators and entrepreneurs in the Technology sectors in the region to benchmark their products and to network. It is also aimed at stimulating economic & trade relations and technology transfer, providing companies with business matching opportunities and exposure to venture capitalists and investors, and increasing community awareness in ICT.

Please join us in congratulating our champions for their truly outstanding achievement in this prestigious and competitive local awards. Our team will now be representing Malaysia at the International APICTA Awards to be held in Hong Kong from 24-27 November 2013 and will compete with member nations of APICTA from more than 16 countries.

This latest award means APU has now won 23 APICTA Awards since the competition was launched in 1999 – the most won by any University!
