Miri – 6 October 2016 – The Curtin Bowling Club and Sports and Recreation Services section of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) are hosting the Curtin Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Cup competition on 15 October 2016 at Megalanes East Bowling Centre Miri.

Formerly known as the Curtin Open Bowling Competition, the competition will be the fifth and largest open competition organised by Curtin Bowling Club. Bowling enthusiasts from throughout East Malaysia and Brunei are expected to participate along with players from Curtin Sarawak. For the first time, a ‘Curtin Category’ specifically for Curtin Sarawak staff and students will also be introduced.

Prizes amounting up to RM5,500 are up for grabs in the competition. In addition to cash prizes, winners will receive trophies and certificates of participation. Top players in the individual categories also stand to win cash prizes.

According to Curtin Bowling Club advisor Jameson Malang, the competition will act as a catalyst to promote bowling and healthy indoor sports in general among the participants.

“We hope to build close rapport with fellow bowling enthusiasts in East Malaysia and Brunei, as well as help the local bowling community grow,” said Jameson.

The registration fee for the competition is RM240 per team while Curtin Sarawak staff and students can register their teams for RM 100, with a maximum of four players per team.

Registration forms are available at Megalanes East Bowling Centre at Bintang Megamall Miri and the deadline for registration is 12 October 2016.
