Kuala Lumpur, 30th June – At the Fashion Show inspired by the upcoming “Alice Through the Looking Glass” film organised by Walt Disney Malaysia at GSC Signature, The Gardens Mall, the whimsical world of Wonderland was accurately captured through the ten-piece avant-garde fashion collection by AMBERSZE London and ESMOD Kuala Lumpur, bringing the story of the film to life for a packed audience.

The movie-inspired collection features ten uniquely-designed pieces crafted in a collaborative effort between ESMOD KL and AMBERSZE London. The garments are tailored based on the setting of the fantasy-adventure movie and its five iconic movie characters categorised in four different themes – Alice arrives in Wonderland, Mad as Hatter, Two Queens of Wonderland and The Castle of Time.

Each single garment is meticulously handmade by ESMOD KL students under the direction and supervision of Amber Tan, the lead designer and founder of AMBERSZE, using materials such as silk organza, Thai silk, brocade, bridal satin, PVC leather, crinoline and taffeta. Silk organza is the key fabric material used in the collection to showcase the concept of “through the looking glass” inspired by the movie.

Amber hopes her collection could inspire the audience with its endless possibilities. “Being able to work with Disney on this project is a dream come true. It is truly a great experience with my team from ESMOD to be able to reimagine and recreate a movie through fashion. I hope we can inspire everyone with a little whimsical madness through the collection and that the impossibilities are endless,” said Amber Tan, founder of AMBERSZE label and graduate of The One Academy.

The designer team consists of AMBERSZE’s Amber Tan (lead designer) and Candice Lim, and ESMOD Kuala Lumpur’s Elaine Ng, Daniel Tseu, Michelle Liew, Tan Win Shean, Adeline Tan Ling Ern, Will Lim Kok Leong, Tay Sin Yee and Chan Su Ping.

The fashion design students were praised for their potential to be great players of the industry. “The students of ESMOD Kuala Lumpur have very good personalities and characters in terms of working as a fashion designer. Besides being very professional, they did very well in time management, and I am quite impressed,” said Amber Tan.

As a team, the solidarity among its members were crucial to see the big project through till the end. “I feel very happy, because as a team, we spent time and worked hard together to make the best out of everything. It is really great to have such a great team and Amber for her guidance as well,” said Daniel Tseu.

The night was packed with a crowd eager for the unveiling of the avant-garde apparels. Besides Sazzy Falak, actress and TV host, who emceed the fashion show, other famous celebrities were also there to enliven the cocktail party, including renowned Malaysian fashion icons Eric Choong and Melinda Looi who were there to provide moral support to their juniors of the fashion industry.
