Jauhari terus bersinar

Anugerah Jauhari award continues to shine

(30 August 2016, Tuesday) Award left a lasting impression on Som Said

Receiving the Anugerah Jauhari award left a lasting impression on Singapore’s ambassador of arts, Som Said. According to the 65-year-old Anugerah Jauhari 2009 recipient, the award was very special because of its high criteria that covers a broad range of fields.

For Kak Som, as she is fondly addressed, every award she has received so far holds its own meaning, and she appreciates each one of them. Awards she has received include the Cultural Medallion in 1987 and the Public Service Medal in 1992 for her contribution to the dance field. In 2007, she also received the Anugerah Warisan Kencana from the Malay Heritage Centre. She continues to share her love for dance with Sri Warisan, a performing arts company that she established in 1997. She is also a valued member of the Board of Directors at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).
