Miri – 29 October 2012 – Young wushu exponents who are keen to learn from Sarawak’s wushu athletes are invited to participate in the 1st Curtin Wushu Training Camp organised by the Curtin Wushu Taiji Club of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) from 18 to 25 November 2012.

Themed ‘Start Wushu from Your Heart’, the training camp will be conducted by wushu medallists Bryan Sony Lah and Bong Yie Qing who represented Sarawak in the Sukma Games this year.

It is open to all wushu exponents in Miri aged between 10 to 16 years for a nominal registration fee of RM70 per person.

The main objective of the camp is to create an opportunity for young wushu exponents in the city to improve their skills through intensive training conducted by the state athletes. In addition, the participants can build their confidence, self-discipline and team spirit in preparation for future competitions.

Apart from the training sessions, there will be educational talks and activities to encourage networking among the participants. On the final day, there will be a test to assess the participants’ level of improvement achieved from the training.

Five awards will be presented to outstanding exponents in five categories – Most Talented Wushu Exponent (Primary School), Most Talented Wushu Exponent (Secondary School), Most Excellent Camp Member, Most Excellent Leader and Best Team Award.
