UCSI University’s campus welcomed fifth formers who attended its annual SPM Revision Workshop.
“Don’t rely on last minute cramming.” That was the prescient advice shared by one of the ‘Guru Cermelang’ at UCSI University’s SPM Revision Workshop. Tan Su Ling who is a ‘Guru Cermerlang’ for the subject of Accounting said that it was best for students to prepare early and that “practice makes perfect”. She said that the SPM Revision Workshop was more a refresher and is intended to highlight the salient points in each topic to the students.
Approximately 1,500 fifth formers came to UCSI University’s South Wing Campus to be tutored on Accounts, Science, Maths (Modern and Additional), Physics, Chemistry, and English over two days. Many of the students were from neighbouring suburbs but some had journeyed from as far as Taiping to benefit from the insider knowledge of the assembled subject experts.
A quick survey among the participants showed that they found the sessions extremely helpful and enlightening. Ashraf Iqbal (SMK Confucian, Kuala Lumpur) said that the ‘Guru Cermerlang’ shared useful exam techniques and found the science session especially helpful. Echoing those sentiments was Henry Chua (SMK Taman Connaught, Kuala Lumpur) who said, “There aren’t many such workshops being offered and UCSI is conveniently located near my school, so it is a good opportunity for me to learn and improve my exam techniques.”
This SPM Revision Workshop is part of UCSI University’s Community Outreach programme designed to give fifth formers an added advantage when tackling their all-important SPM examinations.
