Miri – 26 August 2015 – Curtin Global Village, a special event promoting cultural diversity and global citizenship, will be held at the Recreation & Event Centre of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) on 27 August 2015, from 5.30 pm to 9.00 pm.

The event is open to staff and students of the university, as well as members of the public, and will also see the participation of representatives from Hong Kong, Egypt, Cambodia, Vietnam, Turkey, Mauritius and Kenya.

Tickets for the event are priced at RM3 each and will be sold at the entrance that evening. A limited number of exclusively-designed T-shirts priced at RM25 will also be sold during the event.

Organised by the AIESEC chapter of Curtin Sarawak, Curtin Global Village aims to promote cross-cultural understanding among members of the local community, giving them the opportunity to interact with people of different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.

Participants will get the opportunity to watch colourful cultural performances, sample a wide range of different cuisines and take part in games and lucky draws.

The first prize winner in the lucky draw will be entitled to a RM600 administrative fee waiver for AIESEC’s exchange programme, the Global Citizen. The programme allows students and recent graduates to volunteer abroad for 6 to 8 weeks, connecting them to voluntary projects across the world.

AIESEC is a non-profit Global Youth Leadership organisation run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher learning. Curtin Sarawak was the first higher education institution in East Malaysia to have an AIESEC chapter.

Present in over 124 countries and territories and with over 86,000 members, AIESEC provides an international platform for youth to explore and develop their leadership potential through experiential learning and volunteer experiences.
