The Curtin Sarawak Malaysia (CSM) Scholarships for SPM High Achievers is open to school leavers with 7As and above in the SPM holding a letter of offer from the university to pursue either its foundation Commerce and Arts Stream or Engineering and Science Stream courses.

The intake for its first semester this year is in progress and qualified students are encouraged to take advantage of the scholarship offer when they apply. Classes for the foundation courses commence on 30 March.

Each year, almost 100% of students in the foundation courses are offered places in undergraduate courses in Curtin Sarawak’s Faculty of Engineering and Science and Faculty of Business and Humanities.

The 2-semester courses are aimed at developing academic diligence, critical analysis, and a raft of generic skills in students. They provide a solid foundation for them to adapt to university education more confidently, both in terms of level and style of education.

The Foundation Studies – Commerce and Arts Stream course prepares students for undergraduate study in Arts, Commerce and Social Sciences.

Those opting for its commerce stream can enter degree programmes such as the Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce (majoring in Accounting or Finance, or double-majors such as Accounting & Finance, Banking & Finance, Finance & Management, Management & Marketing, Marketing & Public Relations, Public Relations & Management; or Tourism, Hospitality and Marketing). They also qualify to enter the Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication) and Bachelor of Technology (Computer Systems & Networking) courses.

Those completing the arts stream progress to the Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication) course.

Meanwhile, the Foundation Studies – Engineering and Science Stream course prepares students for undergraduate study in Engineering and Science, Computing and Information Technology.

Students who obtain satisfactory results can enrol in a number of degree programmes, including the Bachelor of Engineering (majoring in Chemical, Civil & Construction, Computer Systems, Electrical Power, Electronic & Communication, Environmental, Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Petroleum Engineering); Bachelor of Technology (Computer Systems & Networking); and Bachelor of Science (Applied Geology).

They can also enrol in the Bachelor of Business Administration; Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts programmes.

The university has academic and personal support systems in place to ensure that the students have the best opportunity to achieve their goals. They will also be taught by lecturers who are experts in their fields and will benefit from low student-lecturer ratios in classrooms and a variety of modern, diversified teaching methods.

In addition, students enjoy advanced technological support such as a modern library, well-equipped laboratories, and access to online resources at Curtin’s main campus in Perth, Western Australia.
