MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING SIGNING CEREMONY BETWEEN OLYMPIA COLLEGE & DATUK KHADIJAH IBRAHIM ON THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2011/2012 FOR DESERVING STUDENTS

In fulfilling Olympia College’s mission of making education accessible to all and in producing knowledge workers equipped with employable qualifications who will be immediately absorbed into the workforce, Olympia College has entered into a collaborative agreement with Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim to launch the Scholarship Fund 2011/2012 for deserving students. The scholarships are applicable for Diploma in Hotel Management programme conducted by Olympia College at its campuses in Petaling Jaya, Penang and Ipoh.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Olympia College and Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim took place at Wisma Budiman, Olympia College, Kuala Lumpur. Olympia College was represented by Mr Kevin Pereira, the Executive Director and Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim represented Khadijah’s Kitchen.

Guest of Honor, Y. Bhg Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Haji Yahaya Ibrahim said in his speech, “Olympia College is very pleased to have signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement with Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim.”

“With this collaboration, Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim will represent the Raffles Education Group/Olympia College in its marketing and promotion campaign to promote the hotel programme and hotel school for the period of 2 years.”

“The scholarships are applicable for Diploma in Hotel Management Programme with the total worth of RM109,440.00 for a total number of 12 awards – full and partial scholarships.”

A three phased strategy was employed in developing the relationship between both parties:

• Phase 1 – Datuk Khadijah will positively promote the college through her networks, locally and internationally.

• Phase 2 – Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim assist in the college’s positioning as well as acceptance and preparation of its hotel students by conducting talks/seminars to students in all three campuses namely PJ, Ipoh and Penang.

• Phase 3 – Datuk Khadijah will also assist in practical placement of Olympia’s students at her business – Khadijah’s Kitchen in Petaling Jaya.

Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim in her speech said, “Indeed, we are proud to be in collaboration with Olympia College who, by virtue of having experienced educationist’s in the academic board whom are constantly evolving their programmes and keeping in tune with regional and current global-trends of hospitality and culinary standards. A fact, we trust and believe that they will achieve in their vision of being the preferred regional college for employment of quality graduates.”

“We also note with assurance that Olympia College’s Hotel programme has met with the stringent United Kingdom and Swiss standards and the students’ opportunity to further enhance their higher national diploma awards from Edexcel in United Kingdom and the Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS) in Switzerland. Equally gratifying to note, is that the Olympia College’s Hotel programme students are guaranteed places in Business & Hotel Management School in Switzerland to complete the final year of the degree programme”

In representing the Raffles Education Group and Olympia College; Dato’ Khadijah Ibrahim, who’s had a personal and eventful journey of culinary experiences over the past years, will share her thoughts, ideas and recipes with students in Olympia College through the course of this 2 year scholarship programme and impart her invaluable knowledge with talks/seminars at designated times in their current regions of PJ, Ipoh and Penang.

This would of course include, the numerous trips she makes abroad representing Malaysia as Cultural Ambassadress and highlighting Olympia College’s role in embellishing their recognition in the international arena; as a college of repute in the hospitality industry.
