Asia Pacific University Of Technology & Innovation (APU) unveils Design, Animation and VFX Programmes

Professor Michael Gunn, Vice Chancellor of Staffordshire University, UK, officiated the event and shared his thoughts on the long-standing partnership between APIIT and Staffordshire University.

Kuala Lumpur, 10 May 2015: Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) hosted the “Design Preview: Love Your Creativity!” on Sunday, 10 May 2015. The event attracted a large number of students and parents who wished to explore the career opportunities in the above-mentioned fields. Professor Michael Gunn, Vice Chancellor of Staffordshire University, UK, officiated the event together with Datuk Dr Parmjit Singh, CEO of APIIT Education Group and Professor Ron Edwards, Deputy Vice Chancellor of APU.

Azim Hulaimi, alumni of APIIT, shared his experiences in the Animation and Visual Effects industry.

The preview’s objectives were to provide a general overview of the design, animation and media industry in line with the launch of the new courses: BA (Hons) Animation, BA (Hons) Product Design, BA (Hons) VFX: Visual Effects and Concept Design and BA (Hons) Advertising and Brand Management at APIIT. Apart from prospective students and parents, several industry experts from the design and animation industry also attended the session and were officially appointed as members of the Industry Advisory Panel (IAP); in which they will provide support in the areas of curriculum development and internship and job opportunities.

Azim Hulaimi, an alumni of APIIT who is currently the co-founder of MIRA Digital, shared his valuable experiences as an APIIT student who eventually transformed into an all-rounded animation and multimedia artist; whereas Gerard Peters from Pixelpost Sdn Bhd discussed about the current needs of the design, animation and visual effects industry.

Prospective students were given the opportunity to participate in the hands-on workshop

A Design Thinking workshop also took place; in which participants understood more about the stages of production, and learnt how to make their own clay sculpture. Prizes were given to the best designs; and participants were able to bring their art creations home, together with an instant photo which was taken on-the-spot.

The new courses in the Design, Animation and VFX fields are offered directly by APU and APIIT Education Group’s longest standing partner, Staffordshire University, UK.
