Miri – 19 February 2014 – The Curtin Discovery Day organised by Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) at its campus last Saturday generated considerable interest about the university’s courses, facilities and services and its upcoming March intake.

The event attracted over 100 potential students, most of whom were SPM school-leavers from Miri and Bintulu. A number of students from neighbouring Brunei also attended.

The students were also briefed on new programmes and courses such as the Pathway to Foundation programme and Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering.

The Pathway to Foundation programme will commence on 7 April 2014 and students who have received their forecast results with minimum 3 credits (different requirements depending on chosen programme) are eligible to apply.

Meanwhile, the Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering commencing in the second semester in July 2014 is a multi-disciplinary four-year programme designed to equip students with an integrated knowledge of multiple engineering fields. The programme is recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Public Services Department (JPA).

In addition, there were talks on Curtin Sarawak’s scholarship schemes and academic talks, as well as meet-and-greet sessions with the academics of the university, a tour of the campus, career and personality tests and course counselling sessions. Officers from PTPTN were also on hand to provide information on financial aid for students.

Curtin Sarawak’s March 2014 intake is currently in progress. Undergraduate courses commence on 3 March while foundation courses will commence on 24 March. School leavers, including students who are currently waiting for their STPM results, may use their forecast results to apply.
