She was nominated for the award by her alma mater, the Curtin Sarawak Faculty of Business, and selected from among nominees from both public and private universities in the country.

The other award winners were from Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Multimedia University, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Victoria University (Sunway College), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman and Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus.

Launched in 1992, the MICPA Excellence Award for Best Accounting Graduate represents part of the Institute’s continued commitment to promote accountancy as a career. The award recognises high-achieving accounting graduates from MICPA-accredited universities who have achieved excellence in the MICPA-CAANZ (Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand) Programme, their extra-curricular activities and respective careers, as well as in demonstrating exemplary personal traits.

MICPA was established in 1958 and is the only Malaysian-grown professional accounting body. Its MICPA-CAANZ Programme is a dual qualification programme which grants its graduates memberships with both MICPA and CAANZ, carrying the titles ‘Certified Public Accountant, Malaysia’, and ‘Chartered Accountant, Australia and New Zealand’.

Graduates also obtain the Global Accounting Alliance (GAA) Passport which provides them with membership support and recognition from 10 premier accounting bodies worldwide. MICPA-CAANZ professionals are trained and equipped with strong application and problem-solving skills which make them relevant and trusted advisors.

Curtin’s Bachelor of Commerce offers a large range of business specialisations, including accounting and finance single and double majors. It is designed to help students gain the theory and practical skills needed to be ready for the job market. They learn from experienced staff, have opportunities to interact with businesses and learn in real workplace scenarios.
