Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business hosts Learning and Teaching Forum to empower experiential learning

Miri – 22 November 2023 – The Faculty of Business of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) recently hosted the Curtin University Malaysia Learning and Teaching Forum 2023 dedicated to promoting the exchange of ideas and research findings in the field of learning and teaching.

The event was an opportunity for academics and educators to come together and share their innovative approaches and best practices in enhancing the teaching and learning experience, particularly the transformative power of experiential learning in educational settings.

In addition to academic staff of Curtin Malaysia, the forum saw the participation of educators and future teachers from Institute Pendidikan Guru Kampus Sarawak, Riam Institute of Technology, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus, and Institut Aminuddin Baki Sarawak Kampus.

Themed ‘Transforming Education: Embracing Experiential Learning’, it featured engaging keynote presentations, interactive workshops, and insightful discussions on the various facets of experiential learning.

The participants had the opportunity to exchange innovative ideas, share best practices, and discover new approaches to integrating experiential learning into their teaching methodologies. This interaction broadened their perspectives and inspired them to explore new avenues of teaching excellence.

The participants also had the chance to network with like-minded professionals, fostering collaboration and the exchange of ideas. The connections made at the forum will undoubtedly contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of experiential learning practices.

In thanking the attendees for their participation, Curtin Malaysia’s Pro Vice-Chancellor, President and Chief Executive Professor Simon Leunig said their participation reflected a strong commitment to continuous improvement in the field of education.

He commented that the theme of the forum encapsulated their shared vision of reshaping the way educational institutions teach and learn.

“Education is no longer confined to traditional classroom settings; rather, it embraces technology, experiential learning, and diverse pedagogical approaches,” said Professor Leunig. “It is through events like this that we can propel the much-needed collaboration and knowledge exchange between academia and schools.”
