(16 November 2015, Monday) Organised by Lianhe Zaobao and Digital Fashion Week, with support from the SF50 Celebration Fund, the SG50 Fashion Show held on 29 October was a great success. It not only drew a good response from the 750 people in the audience, but on social media as well.
55 outfits with Singapore as a main theme, saw 12 groups of young designers showcasing their talents, as well as students from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, MDIS, and Raffles Design Institute.
The show also reflected the evolution of fashion in Singapore. Previously, most of the runway models were either Eurasian or Pan-Asian, but today, many models are of pure Asian descent.
Lianhe Zaobao interviewed 3 of these young female models, one of which is Bai Xiao Juan. The 25-year-old, who is from Tianjin, China, came to Singapore to study when she was 18.
She dropped out of an Elite Model Look completion in 2011 as she wanted to focus more on her studies at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, although she signed on with Basic Models Management eventually.
