A Chance to Pursue Your Dream Career through Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Awards 2017

Secondary school students stand a chance to win The One Academy scholarships, cash, movie premiums and prizes with a total worth of over RM600,000 in Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Awards 2017 (MT10). In conjunction with its 20th anniversary, as a bonus, its Gold winner will receive an additional RM20,000 cash prize!

Since it was established in 1998, Malaysia Outstanding Young Artists Awards was held in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios in conjunction with its mid-year school holiday animated film release. The art competition this year, featuring ‘Cars 3’, began with a simple submission of entry forms which are distributed to all secondary schools nationwide; contestants are to design a car window sticker (drawn directly on the entry forms) and submit their entry by deadlines which vary according to their location.

Those selected shall proceed to Round 2 and attend the On-the-Spot art competition which is held at 8 locations and 5 states—Kota Bharu, Kelantan; Batu Pahat and Johor Bahru, Johor; Miri, Sibu and Kuching, Sarawak; Georgetown, Penang; Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; and Bandar Sunway, Selangor. In this competition, all contestants are to visualise and draw the particular significant moment they have a once-in-a-lifetime success.

Round 2 Winners will be notified and will attend the prize giving ceremony at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Bandar Sunway, Selangor. There, winners will discover their placing during the prize giving ceremony after the Round 2 On-the-Spot competition for Selangor, held on the same morning, ends.

As the saying goes, a student can never be greater than his teacher. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, two new awards are introduced to this rewarding prize giving ceremony—the Distinguished Art Educator Awards (conferred to all art teachers of the top 10 winners) and the Art Educator Lifetime Achievement Award (bestowed to a teacher who has dedicated his entire life to teach his students art.) On top of that, teacher of the MT10 Gold Winner will receive an additional RM1,000 cash prize.

Following that, ten successful individuals who have made Malaysia proud and strived in the creative industry globally and locally will be awarded Malaysia Top 10 Creative Youth Awards 2017. To date, at least 150 individuals have received this award including concept artists, entrepreneurs, digital animators, fine artists and even illustrators.

“This year is a very special year for us because this art competition has been running for 20 years. Over the years, we have received over 15,000 participants and discovered close to fifty extraordinary talents. We have also given away The One Academy scholarships with a total worth of RM15 million. In other words, for the past 20 years, we have helped discover and nurture young talented artists through Malaysia Top 10 Outstanding Young Artists Awards,” said Tatsun Hoi, Founder and Principal of The One Academy.
