Speakers for BYLC 2015 all outstanding advocates of social entrepreneurship and community leadership.

Miri – 7 July 2015 – Following a highly-successful inaugural conference last year, the 2nd Borneo Youth Leadership Conference 2015 (BYLC 2015) organised by Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) is once again set to bring together an exciting global panel of speakers who share a common passion for igniting change.

BYLC 2015 will take place from 30 August to 4 September at the Curtin Sarawak campus.

The speakers will include season one winner of the reality TV show The Apprentice Asia Jonathan Yabut, multiple award-winning author and publisher Carina Hoang, finalist of the Young Australian of the Year award Kumari Middleton, and former co-founder of Hub Australia Ehon Chan.

Other speakers are recipient of the 2010 Queensland Young Professional of the Year Award Dale Young, first runner-up of the Asia Youth Ambassador 2009 Ellynita Lamin, independent filmmaker Nadira Ilana, and founder of Earth Heir Sasibai Kimis.

Also invited to speak at the conference are Group Chief Executive Officer at Menteri Besar Inc. Kelantan Ahmad Zakie Shariff, founder of Rekindle Juliet Arnott, co-founder of Flashpoint Labs Mickey Kovari, and founder of Refuge for the Refugees group in support of the Chin Children’s Education Centre Heidy Quah.

The conference will also see two speakers from Curtin Sarawak. They are Dean of the Office of Student Affairs Dr Adeline Wong and Head of the International Division and advisor to BYLC 2015 Jean-Paul Mouton.

Mouton said he is proud that Curtin Sarawak continues to host the conference as part of its commitment to making tomorrow better.

“The prospect of mentoring the world’s future leaders here in Borneo is a very rewarding venture for us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Organising Chairperson Vinodh Menon said the conference is aimed at making Borneo the social entrepreneurship hub in this region, and to provide a platform for budding entrepreneurs to come together and exchange knowledge and ideas.

Describing it as the ‘People’s Conference’, Vinodh said the event is affordable and greatly beneficial for youth who want to improve themselves and make the world a better place.

“My hope is that this conference will continue to grow and become a prominent event in Borneo that attracts youth from across the globe,” he added.
