Miri – 3 October 2014 – The Curtin Bowling Club of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) is seeking participants for its 3rd Curtin Open Bowling Competition on 18 October 2014.

Bowling enthusiasts from Miri and elsewhere in East Malaysia are invited to participate alongside staff and students of the university in the competition which will be held at Mega Lanes East in Bintang Megamall Miri.

According to the staff advisor to the Curtin Bowling Club, Jameson Malang, the upcoming competition will be the largest organised by the club and cash prizes amounting to RM3,000 will be up for grabs. Last year’s competition saw the participation of more than 60 bowlers.

For the team category, the grand prize winner will receive RM400 as well as hampers, trophies and certificates of participation. The first and second runner-up teams will receive RM300 and RM200 respectively in addition to hampers, trophies and certificates.

Meanwhile, for the individual category, the champions for both male and female players in the competition will receive room vouchers sponsored by Miri Marriott Resort & Spa and trophies. The first and second runner-up best male and female players will receive room vouchers sponsored by ParkCity Everly Hotel Miri and hampers respectively in addition to trophies.

Jameson added that the annual competition serves to promote a healthy indoor sport and establish ties with bowlers from other parts of East Malaysia, as well as encourage a spirit of friendly competition among the players. He also hopes that more members of the local community will take up bowling as healthy pastime.

The participation fee is RM160 per team of four players. The deadline for registration is 13 October 2014. To register, contact Naimi Iman at 010-2105419 or Yap Zhe Yang at 016-5314422. Registration forms are available at Mega Lanes East Bowling Centre.
