Help University Achieves 5 Stars For Online Learning From QS Star Rating System

Kuala Lumpur, TUESDAY 2nd JUNE 2020 – HELP University has received another 5 stars in the Online Learning category of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Rating System. This makes HELP University the only university in Asia to achieve 5 stars in 9 categories from QS World University Rankings.

E Way Chong, Regional Director (Southeast Asia), QS Intelligence Unit said: “HELP University is the only private university in South East Asia to get 5 Stars in eight categories in the QS Stars Ratings. With this new 5 Star Rating in Online Learning it is the only university in Asia to get a 5 Star rating across 9 categories. Congratulations from everyone at QS for this world-class accolade.”

The other 8 areas that HELP was awarded 5 stars in are Teaching, Internationalisation and Employability as well as Academic Development, Facilities, Social Responsibility, Inclusiveness, and Programme Strength for our Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme in the ELM Graduate School.

The QS Stars Rating for Online Learning covers a range of indicators which emphasize critical performance in a quality university. For the Online Learning Award, the QS Stars Ratings team provided a formal, independent audit of HELP University’s performance across 14 indicators in the Online Learning category. This is benchmarked against international standards of excellence.

Shiloh Rose from the QS Intelligence Unit in the United Kingdom said: “We would like to congratulate HELP University again for gaining a 5 Stars Rating in Online Learning. Having 5 Stars across nine QS categories is a great achievement which benchmarks HELP against global leaders.”

Liz Quah, Director of HELP University’s Management Information Systems (MIS) department said, “We have invested in the development and implementation of our online learning management system over the years using our expertise to meet the needs of the university’s online learning. The achievement of this award is the result of the teamwork of the people at HELP. We are inspired to broaden the application of online learning concepts and technologies to excel in the delivery of quality education to our students under the Transformation Task Force on Digitalisation and Technology,” said Liz.

Professor Datuk Dr Paul Chan, Vice-Chancellor and President of HELP University said: “Our 5 Star Rating from QS is strong recognition that we excel in 9 key areas including Online Learning. These awards are the results of our effort in transforming HELP University into an Analytics-Driven Entrepreneurial University. We have initiated the 4R Transformation to reframe, restructure, revitalize, and renew all aspects of our culture of teaching and university management for the 4.0 IR. I am proud that I have a good team to do this.”

“Our 5 Star rating allows our stakeholders, particularly our students, to see where we excel through an objective, independent insight into how HELP University measures up against international standards,” Chan added.

Professor Dr Geoffrey Williams, who leads the QS Rating programme at HELP University said: “We are proud of our achievements that have put us on the world map and for transitioning to online learning professionally.”

Professor Dr Mohan Gurubatham, specialist in Digital Learning, ELM Graduate School, said: “We are now on par with American colleges in online learning.”

HELP is awarded the Premier Digital Tech University (PDTU) by MDEC. It is also collaborating with Alibaba in e-commerce.
