Organised and hosted by:

Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) will be hosting the “Ministry of Higher Education Invitational National Debate 2010 (MIND 2010)” from 24th until 26th September 2010.

Objectives:

Riding on the success of last year’s KLIUC’s Invitational Debate (KIND’09), this year, the aim is to get private and public universities and university colleges involved in this event. This will make it the pre-eminent debate tournament among tertiary level educational institutions in Malaysia.

This prestigious and intellectually demanding debating tournament is an annual event conducted to not only provide an academic platform for participants to discuss important and contentious issues confronted in today’s society but to also provide an opportunity for local and international students to improve their oratory, negotiating, decision making and innovative and critical thought while enhancing ties between participating private and public universities and university colleges.

Participants:

KLIUC expects approximately 20 competing teams from public and private Universities and University Colleges from across Malaysia.

Debate Style:

The debate will follow the British Parliamentary Style where four teams will be split into two categories; Government and Opposition, with four fractions—Opening Government (first faction), Opening Opposition (second faction), Closing Government (third faction) and Closing Opposition (fourth faction). All teams will compete on a round robin basis. Preliminary, semi-finals and Final rounds will be held on KLIUC’s campus grounds.
