Job-seekers can consult potential employers on their respective industries and career opportunities

Miri – 17 October 2014 – Students and alumni of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) and other educational institutions in Miri, as well as fresh graduates and working adults seeking careers in a variety of industries, will have the opportunity to meet representatives of leading employers nationwide at the upcoming Curtin Career Fair 2014 on 30 and 31 October 2014.

The event, organised by the Career & Alumni Services section of Curtin Sarawak’s University Life Department, will be held in the recreational hall of the university’s Recreation & Event Centre from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm on both days. It is open to all and admission is free.

One of the university’s biggest events of the year, the annual Curtin Career Fair also provides the employers the opportunity to promote their respective industries and organisations, in addition to the career opportunities they offer.

Visitors to the fair can also discuss issues pertaining to various industries, the job market, and career opportunities available with the participating organisations.

This year, the participating organisations include Accenture Solutions Sdn Bhd, Berjaya Dockyard Sdn Bhd, Boilermech Sdn Bhd, Boulevard Indah Sdn Bhd (Permaisuri Imperial City Mall), Confluence Contour (M) Sdn Bhd, CPA Australia, Crowe Horwath, Curtin Sarawak, Dai Lieng Machinery Sdn Bhd, Ernst & Young, Halliburton Energy Services (M) Sdn Bhd, Infinity Abroad, JobsCentral Malaysia Sdn Bhd and JobStreet.com.

Other participating organisations are Keysight Technologies, Kimberly-Clark Trading (M) Sdn Bhd, KPMG, KTS Group, Malaysian Phosphate Additives (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Noble AV-Partners Sdn Bhd, Petra Energy Berhad, PETRONAS, Rohde & Schwarz Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Samling Group of Companies, Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) and Sarawak Oil Palms Berhad.

Shell People Services (Asia) Sdn Bhd, Shin Yang Shipyard Sdn Bhd, Siemens Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Speedwing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Sunway Group, Tan Chong Motor Holdings Sdn Bhd, Teach for Malaysia, Test Measurement & Engineering Sdn Bhd, The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), TMF Trust Labuan Limited, Tokuyama Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Woodman Sdn Bhd will also be participating.

According to Manager of the University Life Department Haslina Malek, the annual event demonstrates Curtin Sarawak’s commitment to its students, corporate partners and the Miri community in providing job opportunities and skilled manpower.

“With the theme ‘Take the Lead’, we have secured 38 participating employers and are definitely looking forward to meet graduating students, alumni and job seekers at the fair,” said Haslina.
