UTAR lecturers appointed as book editors

Prof. Dr. Show and Dr. Guo from the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology are proud editors of Industrial Waste, a reference book co-authored by 43 authors from 13 countries namely Malaysia, China, India, Slovenia, the USA, Russia, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Ghana, the UK, Senegal and Poland. It all started with an invitation e-mail from a Croatian publisher in September 2011 that rendered both of them editors of the book.

This Intech published book aims to fulfil the need for state-of-the-art development on the industrial wastes from different types of industries. Industrial Waste is comprehensive and yet not limited to a partial discussion of industrial waste, so the readers are acquainted with the latest information and development in the area, where different aspects are considered.

“We needed to put in a lot of effort as it is a very lengthy process. The job of editor is to review submissions from authors all over the world and we had to go through all of them in details, be it technically or grammatically,” said Prof. Dr. Show, who is currently Head of Department of the Department of Environment Engineering-cum-Professorial Chair of SP Setia Professor of Environmental Engineering and Green Technology. He added that only a handful of submissions which are cream of the crop were selected. Feedbacks are then given to these selected ones for further improvement and resend the chapters for another round of review.

Initiated in September last year and published in March 2012, the process of producing the book may seem tedious and lengthy, but according to Dr. Guo, she enjoyed the work and thanked Prof. Dr. Show for inviting her to be his working partner.

“I am happy and honoured to be involved in such editorial work for the first time,” she told.
Industrial Waste is currently available in both print version and online version. Those interested can download the online version free from Intechopen (click here)
