In conjunction with UTAR’s 20th Anniversary, the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Kampar Campus had conducted a series of public fundraising events led by CFS Department of Accountancy and Management academic Chan Wan Ling since April 2022. The events successfully raised a staggering amount of RM12,541 which will be directed to the UTAR Education Foundation.

In April 2022, the organising committee organised Bolly-On The Campus, a Zumba-like aerobic workout that mixes with Bollywood songs’ dance moves via Zoom. Under the guidance of Coach Jaspreet, an instructor from BollyOn Studio KL, the event raised a total of RM420. Participants thoroughly enjoyed the whole session and gave positive feedback to the committee.

The committee later executed the second public fundraising event by setting up a stall at Kampar Public Market Parking Lot on a Saturday morning in June 2022. Chan, together with some other lecturers and helpful students, spent five hours and raised RM2,121. Besides frying char kuey teow on the spot, the team also sold fried lou she fun, homemade soya bean and caramel popcorn. When asked about the event, Chan raved, “What first seemed impossible to the team later turned out to be one fun and fulfilling event that is truly unforgettable!”

In July 2022, the committee received RM10,000 which was generously donated by Persatuan Pencinta Alam dan Warisan Kampar through their event titled 10KM WALKATHON FOR UTAR. The walk was held in Sungai Siput Selatan on 17 July 2022 and it aimed to raise funds for UTAR.

The committee is overwhelmed with its achievements and is honoured to be part of all the projects and events conducted to raise funds for good causes.

The stall set up by Chan and her team received huge support from the local community.
