UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Bachelor of Economics (Honours) student Chin Ke Li was awarded the top 10 best performing individual award at Huawei Malaysia Sales Elite Challenge 2023, held from 28 to 29 April 2023 at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

Organised by Huawei Malaysia, the Huawei Malaysia Sales Elite Challenge is a large-scale sales competition for Malaysian university students. It aimed to enable students to understand Huawei’s sales positions, learn sales knowledge, and test students’ abilities to develop innovative and real-world business solutions.

The challenge was comprised of two stages, namely the preliminary round and the grand final round. The participants were required to present their solution proposals for Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) to the panel of judges. The challenge was catered for all university students including those who have just graduated in 2023 from various fields of studies.

Chin, who was awarded the top 10 best performing individual award, walked away with a trophy and certificate of participation.

When asked about her feeling on winning the award, Chin enthused, “It is hard to put this feeling into words. However, I am very glad that I could participate and win this award in the challenge.” She added, “It was not simple, but there was always a chance, so I would not say it was impossible either. I really appreciate the opportunity given. Participating in the Huawei Malaysia Sales Elite Challenge was an incredible experience. It has enriched my life and opened doors to new possibilities.”

She also said the challenge was an eye-opening opportunity for the participants as they were able to experience real-life business situations and enhance their understanding of the professional sales pathways. She said, “The challenge also enriched students’ sales knowledge and enhanced their interest in the sales industry through an exciting and interactive series of challenges. It also provided an opportunity for students to learn from elites and experienced sales professionals.”

The participants were judged based on the criteria such as teamwork, communication and expression, adaptability to changes, comprehensive quality and sales position matching.
