Face-To-Face Orientation Returns As QIU Welcomes July Student Intake

Quest International University Perak (QIU) welcomed its latest batch of students for its July intake today. This intake for foundation, diploma, degree and postgraduate programmes saw the University bustling with a hive of activity as excited students went through the half-day orientation programme.

This orientation was special because it involved the first batch of students who are allowed to pursue face-to-face learning under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

The safety of students and staff was of pivotal importance and the orientation was conducted over two separate sessions to practice social distancing. Students were required to check in using a QR code, fill up a health declaration form, and have their temperature recorded.

Signs of nervousness and excitement at the same time could be seen on the faces of the students as they got a glimpse of QIU for the very first time.

Mr Nicholas Goh, Chief Operating Officer in welcoming everyone, assured the students of the university’s commitment towards their success.

“Even while the the Movement Control Order (MCO) was initially implemented in March 2020, the university was busy ensuring final year undergraduates received their placements for internships. This is our commitment towards your success.

“Our mission is to prepare you to be job ready and one of the initiatives on campus is to speak in English. You need to be able to communicate well in order to present yourself to future employers and we will do our very best to mould you into the best version of yourself.” added Mr Goh.

Professor Zita Mohd Fahmi, Vice Chancellor, emphasised that the focus of QIU is to create employees who will not only survive, but thrive in this employment climate.

“The job market has never been more competitive and we want our graduates to stand out from the field. You will leave the university equipped with a high-quality education and the extra-curricular skills that you need to make your mark in life.

“QIU, besides being committed to providing education of international standards of excellence also emphasises character building. The University lays the foundation for graduates to become lifelong learners.” stressed Prof Zita.

Students also attended briefings by the various departments and will commence classes next week.

We welcome all new students and wish all the best in their journey towards academic excellence with QIU.
