Miri – 30 August 2013 – Corporate sponsorship for the annual Open Day of Curtin University, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) to be held at its campus this 14 September 2013 is most encouraging, reflecting the fact that it has gone beyond being just a university event to becoming a community one with significant support and participation of local business establishments, government bodies and NGOs.

Event organising chairman Nicholas Leong, who is the university’s corporate communications manager, said this when receiving a contribution of room and meal vouchers from Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club recently. Presenting the vouchers on behalf of the club’s management was Senior Operations Manager Ambrose Chan.

Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club will also be among a number of local business establishments opening booths at the event.

“Establishments like Eastwood continue to be keen supporters year after year, showing their commitment to supporting not just Curtin Sarawak, but also the Miri community,” said Leong, adding that the Curtin Open Day attracts thousands of visitors keen to discover all that the university has to offer, as well as celebrate its achievements and contributions to education, R&D, human capital and social development in Sarawak through the years.

The grand lucky draw prizes will also include Sony Bravia 32” TVs, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0s and iPad Minis.

Another key supporter of the event is the Miri City Council, which is lending its support for the fourth consecutive year, including promotional support and showcasing its Local Agenda 21 programme in the event’s ‘Environmental Corner’.
