Pharmacy Board of Malaysia monitoring visit to QIUP

Quest International University Perak (QIUP) recently hosted a visit by the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia who were here to monitor the progress of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) programme as part of the requirements set by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

The panel of assessors were made up of YBhg. Prof. Datin Dr. Zoriah Aziz from University Malaya, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mansor Manan from KPJ Healthcare University College, YBhg. Prof. Dr. Rosnani Hashim from Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences (CUCMS) and Mr. John Chang Chiew Pheng from Persatuan Farmasi Malaysia (MPS).

There was also a panel of observers comprising YBhg. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Mahmud from Lincoln University College, YBhg. Dr. Norazrina Azmi from University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Tuan Haji Mohd Yunos Shaari, Director of Pharmacy Board of Malaysia, Mr. Muhammad Mawardi Zakaria and Mr. Mohammad Hafiz Othman, Secretariat of Pharmacy Board of Malaysia.

Also in attendance were QIUP Vice Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Dr. Raman Narayanasamy, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Nicholas Goh and faculty members.

The delegation was given an update of the Pharmacy programme which was launched in 2015 by Prof. Datuk Dr. Allan Mathews, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The presentation detailed the outline of the Pharmacy programme including the curriculum, staffing and facilities for the Pharmacy programme.

The delegation then spoke to the students and faculty members to get feedback about the programme. They were also given a tour of the University including the Quest Pharmacy, The Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratories, Library, The Basic Medical Sciences Laboratories and which are used for the programme as well as the proposed pilot plants for Pharmaceutical Production, Cytotoxic Reconstitution, Admixture, Total Parenteral Nutrition Laboratories and Animal Holding Facility.

The delegation’s verbal report gave a positive outlook.
