UTAR students bag Grand Prize and Most Popular Award

UTAR students bag Grand Prize and Most Popular Award

A moment of pride and joy for Team DF

A team of 11 UTAR students who named themselves Team DF bagged the Grand Prize and the Most Popular Award in ‘The Masters of Rev Up 2013’ competition in a ceremony held at the Bentley Music Auditorium, Damansara, Petaling Jaya on 6 Dec 2013.

‘The Masters of Rev Up 2013’, organised by Revive Isotonic, had attracted more than 2000 entries from institutions of higher learning in the country before 16 finalists were chosen for their best ‘Rev’d Up’ ideas to compete in the grand final.

The 16 finalists were sent to a boot camp and given RM5000 each and two months’ time to execute their projects. After executing their projects, the teams were required to give a presentation at the finale on their project outcomes and they were judged using the criteria such as project management, creativity, planning, budget and PR value.

Team DF, which stands for ‘Da Family’, had since executed their project by organising the ‘Bomberman Challenge 2013’ on 11 & 12 November at UTAR Perak Campus. The event had not only attracted more than 300 participants but also managed to raise RM2000 which was donated to the Kampar Basketball Association.

The team’s innovative idea and creativity paid off when they beat the other 15 finalists and bagged RM10,000 for the Grand Prize. The team also clinched the Most Popular Award that came with RM2000 after garnering the highest votes among all the finalists during the grand final. With the win, the student community at UTAR Perak Campus also stands to gain as the University will receive a Rev-Up TV and a Rev-Up football table from the organiser.

The DF Team comprised final-year Public Relations students Kueh Vi Vien, Chai You Hong, Foong Xye Mun, Chew Yi Lin, Chin Terk Wah, Daphne Lee Wan Yu, Oon Wei Teng, Low Fang Ying and Moo Hong Yuen, Psychology student Kang Mei Xuan and Advertising student Joel Fam Weng Soon.
